I wouldn't mind some sort of story dealing with the cabbie from the very first BND arc. I just thought there was some potential for that character.

Coffee wars! Harry Osborn's Coffee Bean VS The Daily Grind. Whose Cup Are You In?
Posted by Fetsur on 2008-09-15 17:12:08
Here is what I think...
I would personally like to see Spidey with his powers from "The Other" story arc. More importantly, I want to know how Spider-Man seems to have lost several of his abilities from "The Other" arc (such as shooting webs produced organically [from within his wrists]).
Deals with Mephisto never go well, just ask Ghost Rider (Johnny Blaze) or others he's duped over the years; explore the aftermath of Spidey's deal with Mephisto from Mephisto's perspective. In this manner, you will have at least explained why Peter seemed to have lost his morales during the first issues of BND. And why he lost virtually all of the experience he seemed to have had prior to his deal with Mephisto; I can't imagine the Brain Trust having trouble with presenting/illustrating good reasons for this. Especially when the FanFic writers of the Marvel.com Message Boards, who aren't being paid write stories, can come up with decent, good, or even fabulous stories {you guys need to frequent your message boards more often; or at least try to. You won't believe the kind of talent you're missing out on. :-) }.
One more thing I wanted to bring up: Of the two Spider-Mans (Pre-OMD/BND Spider-Man, and Post-BND Spider-Man), which do you personally prefer more, and would you please provide a paragraph (or two) explaining your preference?
Thanks again for sharing that one-paged-preview/teaser of the next NWTD issue!

Spider-Man Retreat
1) Ben Reilly
2) Stick to your guys …. If the marriage is done, don’t bring it back
3) Ben Reilly …… I mean come one Barry came back
4) Ben Reilly …… no really, listen to the fans bring him back
5) Bring a fan to the retreat….. I am serious I wish that marvel would pick a fan to bring with them, make them sign the legal crap so there is no disclosure and ask them their opinion to new ideas, ask them for their idea, I would give you FREE ideas if I knew that it would help the overall life of my favorite character
6) Pick me as the first fan to bring

While i love BND...
...I do agree with Aziroth on one point. Deals with mephisto never go well. I want to see Pete (and maybe MJ?) dealing with some repercussions of Mephisto's trickery. I think there's some great story potential in Mephisto returning to mess with Pete even more, made all the more interesting by pete's not remembering the deal in the first place. And hey, maybe this could be something that leads to Pete and MJ making up and being friends again. You guys are right about keeping pete a bachelor, but i sure do miss that redhead.

I was a big fan of the Pete/MJ marriage and would like to see it return. If you were going to wipe out the marriage, fine. BUt having our hero make a deal with the devil? I think MANY agree that was the wrong way to go about it. Anyway, if you are going ahead with BND MANY things need to be explained. Did the storylines of the last 30 years happen? Clone saga? did it all happen? And Peter remembered that everyone's memory was wiped after the unmasking? What does he remember? Mephisto? Something else? Thats a big plot point that needs explained soon.

Yes, I'm a Venom fanatic, but for once I'm NO
Have the new villains peppered in with some of the classics. What you guys did at the beginning of BND was too much! Issue after issue was nothing but new villians. If you could alternate, with every arc featuring a classic baddie, that would help fans tolerate the newer foes.
Keep Ben Reilly DEAD...Half of me is purely serious with this request, and the other half is just being spiteful. Seriously, do we need another Spider-Man?! They had the same powers, the same personality...even the two Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew and Julia Carpenter) had many differences, warranting the use for two Spider-Women.

Kraven Skin Puma.
This is just an idea I've had and even made a Fan fiction about Kraven Skining Puma & make boots and vest out of Pumas hide. (that's lost on my CPU). I think it would be a sick idea and establish the new Kraven without shooting herself.

Spidey needs to be more Wild.
I liked it when Avengers thought he was a lose canon and didn’t trust him. They should have him do some crazy stuff were eventually registration & non registration act alike finally decide that they can’t control him and try to bring him down.
Also I like to see the return of the Black Cat In all seriousness, where he heck IS she?!

Anti-Venom, Dr. Octopus and Steel Spider
Bring back the Steel Spider, after all that happened to him in T-Bolts. Make him a villain who is just too lost to see that he is doing evil things, and finally, after Spidey stops him, make him partner for Dr. Octopus, please!
And change Anti-Venom's name to Sin-Eater! He eats the "sins" (disease) of people, right? And it would be a nice tribute to Brock's origins.
And please, move forward the story! Answer already the lingerng questions of BND, so that people can stop remembering OMD and fully appreaciate the new direction. Knowing only half the truth makes reading a few things of BND really frustrating sometimes.

A suggestion and a request
Suggestion: I recently read the solicit for the upcoming Harry Osborn storyline by Dan Slott revealing his resurrection. Slott being the master of continuity that he is, I doubt I need to say this, but I will regardless:
Please take into consideration that if by chance Harry was alive all this time/faked his death/etc that Norman can't have anything to do with it as in some of the best post-resurrection Goblin stories of our time Norman frequently visited Harry's grave and made it quite clear he was operating under the assumption that he remained dead.
Request: I recently posted this in the comment section of the MySpace Comics My Cup O' Joe segment, but I feel I'd have more luck getting a response by going to you directly, Mr. Wacker. Pardon the length but some explanation is required...
"When I first heard about the Venom: Dark Origin limited series I was overjoyed. I'd been dreaming of a series that streamlined and elaborated on Eddie Brock/Venom's continuity for years. And if I may say so, Zeb Wells has done an absolutely tremendous job with that. Heck, he even included Eddie's sister, Mary Brock, who was only mentioned once prior in a one-off cameo appearance in Nova: The Human Rocket volume 3.
Now that's dedication to continuity!
Within the pages of the limited series an artistic error was made and Ann Weying (Brock's ex-wife) was colored as an African-American woman, whereas historically she was portrayed as overtly white. I'm all for diversity in comics, and new interpretations in alternate takes. However, this book was supposed to be about streamlining the mainstream continuity, and with this error that's no longer the case; effectively making the book non-canon and crushing my dream.
So my request is as such: would you kindly correct this coloring snafu in a second printing and/or TPB release of the series? I and many other long-time Venom/Spidey/Marvel fans would be greatly appreciative if you could.
Thank you in advance and continue to make mine Marvel!"

I'm going to echo Aziroth: I wish you'd deal with what The Other set up. Granted, the way The Other was written was a mess. But you can't do something like that and then walk away! Peter Parker was literally reborn, an opportunity to figure out "what it means to mix the human and the spider", to paraphrase Straczynski. You can't have a huge set-up like that and then never pay it off!
I mean, I guess you can. But that would be annoying. It would be like if halfway through this election storyline you decide you're not interested anymore and we never get an election. The Other was the biggest part of six years of build-up with the Spider-god and the totem and Ezekiel and Morlun and the constant question of whether Peter was meant for greater things. And then... nothing! Sure, the actual "Other" creature was used in FNSM, but that wasn't the interesting part of the story. The interesting part was the question of where Peter Parker goes next, having been brought back to life for the express purpose of going somewhere new and interesting.

Just think of the fans that have been alienated due to OMD/BND and the seeming drop in sales since then. Win us back, have Peter wake up or be a Skrull, something! Fix this continuity that is now broken, just look at the Distinguished Competition: Their continuity is almost non-existent, whereas that was a great draw for fans: a cohesive universe from start to end. Leave the devil-dealing to Johnny Blaze, he atleast became a hero, instead of a second-rate soap opera like ASM has become.

- Updating a few of the lesser, cheezy characters from Spidey's past! I'm sure Dan Slott has an idea or 12.
- Can Peter go on a date soon?

I am a fan of complicated drama filled stories. Granted web shooters jamming is an interesting story telling device, but is an old washed up one. Peter married dealing with the problems of balancing a marriage and his calling was so true to what many have to deal with everyday and made for good story telling. Next thing Aunt May love her to death, but keeping her alive this long is just getting absurd. I here all this talk about the marriage ageing peter, but Aunt may has to be like 250 years old now how old does that make peter. Aunt May passing would be a huge GROWTH oppurtunity for peter. It would have put him in a dark place that would have been hard on the marriage no doubt, but overcoming that hardship would make for great story telling. I could go on and on about what I think needs to happen in the Spidey book. The bottom line is the writing is less than average, the new villians are boring, and peter is what he was once before a bumbling teenage screwup which was good then but its been done. So please fix this so called BND and actually give us a BRAND NEW DAY with original stories and themes peter has not been through all ready.

More of the same, plus...
1) Don't bring the marriage back!
2) Have Pete start dating Carlie for a while
3) More Betty Brant! (She really ought to move over to Frontline herself)
4) Bring back Joy Mercado.
5) Jill Stacy!
6) Roderick Kingsley
7) Use Pete's role in Frontline to make him more of an investigator
8) Doc Ock
9) Ben Reilly?
10) Address the continuity stuff from OMD/BND.

I would not ditch the Mephisto story line - if you do it will always be the hugh elephant in the room. It has so much potential to last years. A lot of the buzz this year has been about how much MJ remembers and what she whispered. Bringing it up does not mean you have to go back to pre-BND stories. Maybe Peter will not be able to overcome the consequences of his choice. In any event - don't forget about MJ. I miss her this year.

Iron Man + Mary Jane
You want Drama, tension and soap opera type stuff look no further, besides those 2 go good together and I honestly thought it should have happened in Civil War.

Suggestions.
1. Leave Ben Dead (Dead clones stay dead. 2 Spidermen is 1 Spiderman too many)
2. You could make Peter a little more like Ben tho he had sick rocker hair before he went blond.
3. Marriage is gone don’t bring it back or even hint at it!
4. The Other Powers were stupid Spiderman is not Jesus
5. Retcon Sins Past worst arc ever
6. Less Jack Pot
7. More Black Cat (I miss her She was good with Spidey)
8. Spiderman should use his smarts more he’s smart remember that
9. Better mysteries than just ( I wonder who this guy is)
10. I’m really enjoying NWTD keep up the good work!

More complicated drama filled stories and put MJ and peter back together. It wasnt so much that the marriage was ended but that it was ended in such a absurd way. I just want good writing i dont think the rotation of writers is working i think you need to stick with one creative team for a prolong period of time. I want to see peter deal with real life emotional problems. example balancing a marriage with his calling as spiderman over web shooters jamming. Sales have fallen and will continue to fall untl the writing gets better. I loved the Other story line and everything from that has been magically wiped away. please just fix spidey he deserves better than this.

Different Spidey suits for different occasion
K there has always been debate over which Spidey suit is best and which he should wear but I think He should wear what fits the situation best & would gives a bit more variety to the artist.
I.e, The black at night because its better camouflage, the red and blue during the day because you don't want to wear black in the middle of the summer and the Scarlet Spider in the winter. He needs that vest to keep warm because NY in the winter is frigin cold.
Just a thought.

Peters Student Status.
K I think that Spider-Man was always more resourceful as a University student and was a reminder to the writers that he was well smart and since he doesn’t have that flake of a wife holding him back anymore nothing stopping him from going back.

1. address the moral issues of OMD (please)
2. figure out a way that Peter will be able to grow as a character without repeating stories that have already been done.
3. Ben Reilly
4. Bring back the marriage ( (I realize that this won't even come up, but needed to say it anyway)
5. less characters like Freak, and more like Doctor Octopus
6. Kaine!
7. Fix continuity, please.

My picks.
I´d like to see the return of the marriage, sinister Six, Morbius, Classic villains such as Chameleon, Shocker, Electro, etc, no more new support characters and villains, Peter getting a real job, Ben Reilly, kaine and what really happened to May(Spidey´s daughter) and the end of the horrible deal with Mephisto. That´s my dream list and I know none of that will happen.

drama soap opera
This title went from being the stories of a multi-cast to the story of two people to the story of one (Peter). I love the new set-up but don't be timid, expand on it, introduce new supporting characters, have soap opera with the ones you have. Involve us in the mysteries, it's not too engaging,it's not even a mystery for the cast, which it should be. Have characters wonder who is Menace, etc.

DO NOT listen to anyone on here, they just want to HATE ON THE BOOK. Now listen to me!:
Dos:
1. Make Harry Osborn an awesome character and ultimate villain!
2. Include ladies
3. Make a story about "Mixed Martial Arts" "UFC" and this new fighting style that is replacing boxing.
4. Get Mark Millar to write at least 1 3-issue arc, or even 1 issue.
5. Get Steve McNiven back for a great story.
6. Keep Aunt May as Aunt May.
7. Make sure JJJameson is OK.
8. More Jackpot!
DON'T:
1. Talk about OMD. It's over, let it go, we don't need any more explanations
2. NO BEN REILLY! F*** that stupid loser and lam story that message boarders like for no reason.
3. No messing with Aunt May.
4. NO KILLING JJJameson or other main characters like MJ. Just tell good stories with them, NO KILLING.
5. No rushing to bring back Doc Ock unless the story is great.

How about this?
1) Forget BND, bring back continuity of pre-OMD
2) Remember the alienated fans and try to win us back
3) Remember that this is MARVEL, not the Distinguished Competition, continuity matters!
4) Leave the devil-dealing to Johnny Blaze, it made him a better man.
5) Please bring back pre-OMD Spidey, alot of us miss him!!
6) Bring back Spidey's morality, he's seemed to lost "great power and great responsibility." (I'm pretty sure deals with Mephisto fall under that as being WRONG.)
7) I may not always agree with Marvel's ideas, but atleast they are different.
Posted by deadpool1977 on 2008-09-16 15:45:00
Wrong:
Listen to EVERYONE here. ALL Poster input should be treated with equal regard unless it is explicitly bashing, and by bashing I mean stuff like: "Spider-Man sucks, and people who like him sucks." Or other messages that have no meaningful content aside from using profanities, and just outright cussing out, and so forth.
Also, since it seems ALOT of users in this blog seem to think they are above the rules of Marvel.com Message boards, understand that the rules apply here as well (Brevoort said so once when users got to swearing real bad). Meaning, for instance, the flagging feature is there to be used on inappropriate posts that contains content such as strong profanity, bashing, making sexually explicit remarks, and so forth. It is not to be used to hide posts simply because you do not agree with the people who make their personal opinions known.
I ain't a mod, nor am I any official of Marvel.com, but I feel this needs to be brought up because it is clearly apparent that someone is (or some people are) abusing the flagging feature. It's not just here either, it's on every other blog as well (except Nate Cosby's blog because his blog isn't as popular as the other blogs on this section of Marvel.com).
I apologize if the content of this message is accusatory, or rude.

I would beg you to restore most of what was erased with OMD.
* First and foremost, restore the marriage of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson-Parker...it enhanced the book, the depth of the characters, and, quite frankly, added many story elements and possibilities for character growth. Whenever Peter needs to duck away from someone to become Spider-man, have him with a friend, co-worker, etc...the same dynamic plays out there as it would with some random date-du-jour.
* Ideally, have his power-growth from The Other and The Queen exist again. It didn't hurt the character, it helped.
* Keep the inclusion of Peter's larger supporting cast. Just 'cause the guy is married, doesn't mean he's tied to her ankles. There can be whole story arcs with nary an appearance by his wife, as your Distinguished Competition does with Superman. Really, she has never been an albatross around Spider-man's neck; on the contrary, she has been an asset and needs to be back.
I don't mind the secret identity being recapped, but without the marital history restored and the relationship put back into its rightful place, I can't see myself ever returning to ASM, which, after 34 years of reading and a son who planned to do so as well, seems so sad.
Restore the true timeline. Keep the 3-times-a-month publishing schedule, as it seems to have been a great marketing move on Marvel's part. By doing both of those, you get back most of the estranged fans, who will then be buying ASM 3 times a month along with the vast majority of the current readers. (And since a sizable minority of the estranged fans are also avoiding other Marvel titles, it would probably boost sales across-the-board. You never can have too many readers, right?) ;-)
Please...?

Spidey...
1. I would really love to have the Black Cat back in Spider-Man's life, there's a great dynamic between them and some flriting would be appropiate now that the marriage is gone.
2. Also, let's see more of Carlie Cooper and Vin Gonzales. I see the potential in them and can see them becoming important supporting characters, but they've remained sort of one-dimensional so far.
3. Expand on Peter's role in Frontline, it's one of the best ideas for the character in the new status quo so far. More Ben Urich. I wouldn't mind having Betty Brant join him there as well. And the least we see of Sally Floyd, the best.
4. Recurring appearances of Daredevil, Luke Cage and other street-level heroes would be nice as well, and help integrate him more into the Marvel universe.

To see in 2009
1) Bring back Hobgoblin to Spider-Man's world, and return him to his former glory. Seriously, this guy hasn't been used in ten years in the main Marvel universe, and now is a good time to roll out the red carpet for this guy.
2) Bring back Ben Reilly! I mean he's like a brother to Peter, and it'd be cool to see him as the Scarlet Spider again. Not those second hand-me down Scarlet Spiders, the one and true Scarlet Spider who was very popular and cool.
3) Bring back Kaine and Dr. Ashley Kafka. Again, two good characters that have a lot of potential. Also, I'd like to see Dr. Kafka in a relationship with Dr. Connors. Such as Billy trying to fix the two up.
4) Undo the whole deal with Mephisto. Seriously, Peter and MJ would never make a deal with Mephisto. Have Aunt May in some kind of spiritual form, telling Peter not to become something he's not in order to save someone's life. And tell him that if it's her time to move on, than let her move on. After all, Aunt May is a wise woman, and Peter has learned a lot from her. Let him take Aunt May's advice, let her soul rest in peace, and move on to start a new chapter in his life that'll help him build his character.
5) Finally, let Peter and MJ still be married. I don't care what you guys want, those two have the longest marriage for twenty years, and to see it go down the drain disappoints. Let Spider-Man be mature, responsible, and grow, but still be a fun-loving wise-cracker at heart. Marvel let's to see their character's develop and grow, right? Let Spider-Man grow, and be the hero that he's meant to be.

Flags
I'd also recommend that, if you truly are interested in hearing the opinions of the entire spectrum of the Spider-man fan base, that you let the posters on your blog know that indiscriminate flagging of posts with which they disagree will not be tolerated. Too many posts with no offensive material are being flagged and, thus, disappearing because of people who believe they can censor any opinion post with which they disagree.

What I want to see in '09
I have been enjoying Amazing Spider-man immensely since the book started shipping thrice a month under the BND mantle. And while I’ve enjoyed all of the stories printed and shipped so far this year, but I want some answers darn it.
Solicitations for later this year show that two of the big mysteries of the missing time between the events of OMD and BND are going to be explained, the Identity of Jackpot will be revealed (at least to the reader, Please let it be MJ *Fingers crossed*) with the Amazing Spider-man Annual, and that Spider-scribe Slott will be penning a two part story telling the tale of how Harry has returned to the land of the living staring December. I can’t wait to see these answers to the questions that have kept me guessing these past nine months. I’m glad that answers are coming but you asked what us Spider-fans wanted to see and what I would like to see over the next year are some answers to questions that continue to plague long time Spider-man readers (and anger filled messages boards across the net).
The big mysteries that remain (for me at least) are:
How did Peter get his identity secret again?- Slott hinted in New Ways to Die that Peter and some unknown number of others (enough to make a “We”) did something that has made most or even all of the Marvel Universe forget that Peter is Spider-man. What I want to know is how?
What happened to Peters “Other” powers?- Not that I miss them, I like my spider-man like my Coca-Cola: Classic. I may not miss ‘em but I would like to know what happened to the new abilities anyways.
Why did Peter and Mary Jane Watson break up?- They dated for years, what broke the two up? Is this connected to Peter’s actions to hide his identity? I’ve been wondering about this since the final pages of OMD.
These are just a couple loose ends that as a long time fan I would like to see tied up as soon as possible. Now, if you’re asking for requests on what I would like to see as a Spidey fan, I got a short list for you namely one request:
Peter is swinging (pun really intended) single again, so I would love to see him dating. Be it a member of the supporting cast Carlie Cooper or the not so available (not that it has stopped Pete in the past) Lily Hollister (who Peter has expressed some attraction for in his internal monologue. Or perhaps a old flame from his past could make a reappearance, Black Cat after all has sent her regards via Matt Murdock*[*in the Amazing Spider-man Extra –T]. Or perhaps a classic Spidey love triangle with Black Cat and perhaps Jackpot vying for Peter (or Spider-man’s) affections?
Have a good retreat Mr. Wacker, and keep up the good work. The new direction (or should I say classic?) has re-energized my love of the character, here’s hoping the second year is as impressive as the first has been.

Ideas, ideas...
First, a quick question: Is Mephisto "The Hero that Saved Spider-Man?"
That out of the way, here's what I think could really work. Its obvious on how many fans have been alienated by what's happened within this last year. I think I have a solution to win back the old and keep the new fans.
Story arc idea: Jackpot seeks Spider-Man's aid in tracking down Menace who has been in some sort of "doing bad" spree. Meanwhile, Peter Parker is reeling from a very bitter sweet reunion with MJ that really ends up more bitter than sweet.
In a series of battles, Spidey and Jackpot both get their blows from Menace and deal the Mephisto-looking goblin some of "his" own.
Finally, in a serious life or death battle, have Spidey confront and pin down Menace. In a triumphant, glorious scene have Spidey slowly pull the mask from Menace's face (with Jackpot standing guard)....
....only to find out that Menace is MARY JANE WATSON!!
Spidey/Peter and Jackpot/Sarah are both so shocked that Menace/MJ deals them both a quick physical blow to go with their emotional wound and escapes.
Its then that Menace reveals to the city HER diabolical plan (to do a lot of bad stuff and like hurt people).
Peter, his world shattered, somehow realizes that his life has been altered by a mysterious "deal" and he must both defeat Menace and somehow rescue the woman that almost was his wife...

ideas
1. The return of the original Hobgoblin...preferably with interaction between Hobgoblin and Green Goblin/Thunderbolts/Harry Osborn
2. Harry Osborn's reaction to Sins Past...he now has a half brother and sister
3. The return of Ben Reilly...long overdue, even for some "untold tales" from his life on the road
4. The Return of the Jackel...he doesn't have to be a one trick pony with clones...have him do other stuff instead
5. Revisit some of the old fueds that haven't been referenced in years...Doc Ock vs. Owl (from spec spider-man #72-79), Ock vs. Hammerhead gang war (mostly from Gerry Conway's run years ago...they always had a grudge)
6. For the first time ever...Doc Ock versus Green Goblin...or possibly a rare team up with Spidey's 2 greatest villains.

ideas
These ideas would radically better the book in my opinion.
1. Undo the Mephisto deal. The idea that Spidey would make that deal with a demonic figure is absurd.
2. Let him be the unmasked fugitive for a while. I was totally opposed to the unmasking, but Marvel claimed it was a big deal, and in no way a gimmick. He was unmasked for maybe a year. The only consequence was May getting shot, and we all know how that turned out. If you want interesting stories, Petey on the run sounds pretty good to me.
3. Let May die. I like May, she is as much a part of ASM as the red-and-blue tights....but it's her time. Let her go. Show Peter trying to cope with letting her go.
4. Retcon the retcon. I don't care if it's a dream, if it's a "It's A Wonderful Life", thing, a skrull thing, whatever. Make the last 20 years real again.
5. Explain things. A huge population of your most loyal fanbase is really, really angry. They want answers. Marvel is telling them "wait and see". They won't wait. They won't see. Why? Because they won't buy...If you actually answer WHY half of the "problems" make sense, then you might win back some fans.
6. While I prefer the marriage, if you INSIST on a break-up, make it realistic and plausible. Something like MJ gets tired of being on the run, or Peter leaves her to protect her or something like that. It doesn't even have to be a legal divorce...just have her not be around. The idea that divorce is potentially more offensive than making a deal witha devil-like being is ludicrous.
Anyway, those are my ideas. They are meant with love for Spidey, not malice. I sincerely only want the best for the book and the character.

I definately think the organic webshooters work better for spiderman.
I also think a crossover with Spider-Girl would be awesome for the book and not hurt anything since Peter is no longer married.
I really would like a explanation as to how Harry is still alive???
A explanation for baby may? I mean honestly, how can a baby age a character, when young teenagers have babies all the time. I think if nothing else it would just add to the dynamic of spiderman.
I think eventually Spider-Girl the mc2 version should come into the 616.
As for BND, i was going to give it another shot, but the tag line was $5. I thought it was going to only be 2.99? How do you expect us to afford $20 a month?
Posted by poeticlife on 2008-09-16 23:56:59
Spiderman
I really think you need to explain how Harry is back? And at $5 a pop how are we expected to afford to pay $20 a month?
Also i think it was a mistake to kill off baby may. I mean how can it do anything but ground Peter more in reality and make him more of the every man. He's not a teenager anymore. He doesn't need to be the man child from 40 year old virgin. I think eventually May could take over like Wally West did for bally allen in the flash. Or impulse for Wally West. Please take this into account.
I also think a crossover with Spider-girl would be fun and hurt nothing in the Spiderman books, since peter is no longer married.

I would love to see a Mary Jane and a Jack Pot miniseries following there adventures and movie deals i think it would be great.
BTW bring back Kaine.

Black Cat & Spidey!
I always liked Black Cat's romance dynamic with Spider-Man the best. I loved how she brought the superhero dynamic into Peter's love life, someone that could actually keep up with him. It's the type of thing that’s always made me want him to be single again and why I think the marriage was a mistake.

My requests
As someone who has so far on the whole disliked BND thanks in part to OMD, these would be my requests.
a. That Aunt May learns what Peter did and tells him what an absolute selfish jerk's he's been.
b. That Peter and Mary Jane get back together, preferably married. There is no alternative to Mary Jane that the majority of fans like and you know it guys.
c. That Doctor Octopus makes a forthcoming appearance, maybe gets into a fight with Martin Li/Mr Negative over Aunt May?
d. That Jackpot, be she MJ or not, be over and done with. Want someone like her out and about? Use Black Cat.
e. That Carlie Cooper be gotten rid of. If you wanted Gwen Stacy back, you might as well have really brought her back instead of this Poundshop alternative.
f. That Amazing Spider-Man can return to a monthly format with one, decent ongoing writer. I understand that you think three times a month is good, but I feel that the shifting of writers and rushed quality harms the book ON TOP OF the post OMD 'Deal with the Devil'.
Thanks for listening. I know some people will disagree with these things, but do them and I reckon you'll have the majority back on your side.

The 4 things that I would love to see in Spid
Mr. Wacker,
What I would love to see in Spider-man in the Year 2009 is just these 4 things...
1,) Bring back the Mephisto plot. I mean the longer this plot is lead on, the longer it will anger the fans. I mean I would for one like to see what Mephisto truly gains from his deal with Peter and MJ and would love to see just how he pulled one over on a friend of Dr. Strange.
2.) Bring back the Marriage of Peter and MJ. I mean seriously I was born during the time of the marriage and have always held the event of high regard in my comic book collecting life. I love to see a married Peter and MJ again, and to show the world just why we shouldn't mess with something so good as that.
3.) Have some of the heroes relearn Spidey double life. I mean I would enjoy it more if some of Spidey's more heroic allies relearned his secret ID, like Daredevil or the Human torch or even Wolverine. I truly disliked how Daredevil forgot Spidey's ID in the BND world and it would be interesting to see how Wolverine would take being mind-wiped to forget Peter's ID and relearning it again since he has a connection to Peter's parents.
4.) Please promote Spider-girl more. If you are not going to bring back the marriage, at least promote the comic book series where the marriage still exist in some form. I mean it would help if you or anyone at Marvel try to promote the series more as it staisfy anyone who has ever been a Spidey fan and a fan of the Spidey Marriage.
I truly do hope that you can take these thoughts into consideration Mr. Wacker and I hope to hear more from you soon.

I'm astonished I'm not seeing more posts that say what I'm about to say, and I assume it is because someone has been abusing the "flagging" feature. To the person who is doing it: Hi there! Please don't flag this post. It has no swearing and I'm not attacking anyone. To Mr. Wacker and any other Marvel employees to read this: please do read all the responses. I believe the flagged posts will be restored once the mods (or whoever) have checked them. Some punitive action toward the flagger might also be in order, since he is hindering your request for honest reader feedback.
My request is to please undo this retcon. Heroes Reborn lasted one year and was undone. This storyline can end after the same length of time.
The Marvel Universe's single greatest claim to lasting literary significance is its continuity. It is the largest and most intricately detailed fictional setting in the history of literature (There's no comparison with the DCU, a self-contradictory juryrig which rewrites its own history almost continuously). No one expects ironclad continuity—it would be an unreasonable request anyway, and the rolling timeline makes it impossible—but the continuity should be maintained with a modicum of stewardship.
Spider-Man is the setting's keystone character. Last winter, half his history was gutted, and it was done in an offensive and implausible way. A universally recognized folk hero, whose costume toddlers wear as their footy pajamas, was turned into Faust.
This would be unacceptable anyway, but still more bizarre is that this deal with Marvel's proxy-devil has been portrayed as having so few negative consequences for the character. Not that I want to see a lot of grit and angst thrown into the character's life—I don't—but I would like to see his history, his marriage, his manhood, and his integrity restored. A character who had always been shown to be extremely, even neuroically, preoccupied with doing the right thing, and who had also always been portrayed as highly intelligent, has now done something that even an amoral dullard would know not to touch with a fifty foot pole.
Another strange thing is that everything that defines Peter as an adult has been taken away except his actual age. He no longer has a good job, he has now never been married (he shacked up with his girlfriend for a length of time and may have even impregnated her), and he was stuck living with his aunt for years. He is now a teenager in everything except age, and it makes him harder to respect or sympathize with. Aunt May's life has been saved at the expense of all her character development as well.
Something that has been clear to me from the outset is that this cannot endure long-term. Fans never stopped complaining about Hal Jordan until he was vindicated a full ten years later, and Hal is nowhere near as popular as Peter. Even most of the effects of DC's Crisis On Infinite Earths, the most famous retcon in comicdom, have finally been undone after twenty years. Whether it is done by the current writers and editorial staff or by their successors, this untenable situation will be corrected—that is inevitable—but it would be far less awkward if it were done now rather than later.

A few Things
1) “DON’T” bring back the marriage!
2) Bring back the Black Cat or have Peter date Felicia Hardy but have her not know he’s Spiderman at first.
3) The return of the Hobgoblin
4) If you have to show MJ maybe have her develop a drug problem or something, it would be interesting to see what Peter would do if he found out MJ and Bobby were on crack or cocaine. (MJ = Lindsay Lohan lol jk but not really.)
5) More sinister villains
6) ????
7) More Menace
8) Less Avengers Spiderman’s not a team player
9) Bring back the Black Cat
10) Profit.

My post appears to have just been flagged. I won't re-paste my entire post here, since I have faith that the mods will restore it shortly, and it would look silly to have it here multiple times.
What I said is that the recent retcon was a mistake, I outlined why I believed it was a mistake, and I asked that it be undone. I said nothing offensive, and I specifically asked for whoever is flagging these posts not to flag it.
Since it has now been flagged anyway, here is a link to the identical post on the Spider-Man board. It's the second from the top: http://www.marvel.com/boards/viewtopic.php?p=3331035#3331035

Spyder-Man / Spider-Man
We must each live with the opinions of others, we may not share them, we may not even respect them, but we shall tolerate them.
It's the rigors of freedom of speech. (that pesky thing).
The real Peter Parker has been outed as spiderman, he's threatened to kill the kingping, should aunt May not survive the assassins bullet, he's done criminal things and are hunted by Stark and the law.
The real Peter Parker has evolved, he is in touch with his inner spider, his senses are sharper, his webs are organic.
The real Peter Parker is married to MJ, he has changed much during his many years, but all for the better. As Lee said: "Change is good".
The real Peter Parker has been left, with a cliffhanger on the curb outside the hospital, thinking: "What do I do now?".
Plot lines and possibilities lost:
1) Kingpin being bested by Peter in the jail. How will the criminal element perceive Spidey after this sound thrashing, long term effects etc. Gone.
2) May on the brink of death, will she die? Will she live? Gone.
3) Fugitive from S.H.I.E.L.D. the law and Stark. Long term, how will Spidey do what he does when he's hunted thus? Gone.
4) Long term, how will Peter cope with the general public knowing his identity? Gone.
5) MJ and Peter, how, again, long term, will they cope with above situation(s)? Will love conquer all? We'll never know. Gone.
6) MJ, can she work again? Everybody knows she's the wife of Spidey, will she get blacklisted? Will she be hunted as accessory to whichever crimes her husband did? Gone.
7) J.J.Jameson. After the showdown with Peter from Back In Black, how will he perceive our webslinger? Will he respect him for his dedication? Will he understand him better? How will this affect his editorial direction? Gone.
8) Peters ex-pupils, will they be inspired to do... what? Having had Spiderman for a teacher must have had an impact like none other. Not to mention those pupils he helped more directly. Long term. Gone.
9) Peters evolved abilities. Long term. How will he adapt to them? Will they change the way he perceives himself? Will they change the way he fights? (they did already, when he carried that girl from the collapsed building, and sensed his surroundings by touch alone) Will his spider sense evolve further as seen when he pinpoints the assassin at the trainstation. Gone.
10) The general excitement of No Status Quo, everything can change. Gone, as in, back to square one.
11) The older, more mature Peter, maturing futher in the hardships ahead. Gone.
12) The perception of Peter, after all his actions/crimes by his peers. I imagine Wolverine would approve, Ms. Marvel probably wouldn't, Luke Cage would, The Sentry wouldn't... etc. Long term. Gone.
Also, his retrofitting seemingly affected everybody around him. As posted on the forums and I quote:
"Suddenly Doc Strange looks like a foolish amateur, because he can't recall all his conversations with, and battles alongside Peter.
Daredevil, who deduced who Spidey really was, using his hightened senses, suddenly no longer knows? Thus he too has been dumbed down by this.
Ben Urich, using his keen insight and journalist skills, also deduced Spideys identity, long before civil war. He's been lobotomized as well, clearly, because he's forgotten too.
S.H.I.E.L.D. knew, Iron Man knew, Wolverine knew etc. Erasing their memories also seems to have taken away their curiosity. "I saw him unmask, but I can't remember the face...I wonder why that is.. no, wait, for some odd reason I don't care, oh well, wonder what's on telly"
Plausible? Hell no.
With the whole MU thus altered, is it any wonder I've jumped off the entire universe? It is now hollow and unrealistic.
(I know, people flying and shooting concussive beams out their eyesockets is hardly realistic, but work with me)."
I bet you Kingpin is confused too. "Who was that fellow who humiliated and beat me while i was in prison? Damndest thing, I simply can't recall, I must have revenge... no.. wait.. for some odd reason I don't really care about this one... odd."
There's all ages Spider-Man and Ultimate Spider-Man, why oh why couldn't you just have left the original timeline alone?
Plot lines dangling in the aether, polluting the collective unconscious. Creating despondency and a sense of loss (okay, a bit much, but for those of us who likes closure).
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for change, all for challenging the status quo. But sensibly, well written, logically. Besides, pre-OMD Spidey was very much NOT status quo, his world had been rocked and turned tupsy turvey.
The post-OMD Spidey on the other hand, is 1970's status quo, it's a step back into the past, it's not progress at all. It's Spidey nostalgia.
Any company can change the direction of their characters, they have that right. I think it's impolite, however, to do so before tying up all the plot lines and story ditto.
Not just brutally sever a story in progress.
I know new readers will flock and sales will proliferate, business as usual. Readers come and go, always have, always will. I'm just hugely dissapointed in the way it was handled
Nine months without Marvel comics and counting.

Why are there responses missing from this list? I, for one, posted a few suggestions which have been removed. They were here before but are gone now. There was absolutely nothing offensive on my list, or on some of the others that were here before but are gone now. If you guys really want reader response suggestions that you ask for, please make sure that others cannot remove them.

I tried to like BND but I cannot I'm afraid.
I really did want to like BND and I tried but I cannot. There are some mnay things I'd agree with in general concept. For one thing I really did want to see a renewed attempt at bringing in new villains. I also wanted a shift in breaking back more cast members. I also didn't think it'd hurt if there was a period in which things were a little lighter again for Peter Parker.
Well, you would think that BND would right up my alley but I'm afraid it is not.
Most likely because what started it was OMD. I know that Peter loves his aunt very much and under JMS he showed us she can be far far more than a doting clueless aunt from the days of Stan Lee and John Romita's Sr's otherwise excellent work. Peter knew well enough that he was taking a risk in revealing his idenity when he didn't have to if I recall correctly. But he did and thus his enemies learned his name and face. This lead to his Aunt May getting shot.
Now the true Peter Parke have learned that this was a cruel and harsh reminder as to why he has to be careful as Spider-Man. He should have accepted that he messed up, be gulity, but realize that Aunt May was waiting to be reunited with Uncle Ben after all these years. Leaving him with his loving wife to support one another.
But no since the end of OMD PEter has been dead to me I'm afraid. Everything about BND just feels like so little effort has been put in. I know that doing a weekly series is tough and I believe that Joe Q has been very vague even to the writers at Marvel as to what has happened due to Mephisto's power. But honestly Peter is suddenly a rookie again? We're smacked in the face with the first issue of BND with Peter kissing another woman? Menace....another goblin? Why another goblin? We've had plenty of those and we've seen them plenty of times.
But the thing I dislike most about this all fiasco is the way certain writers and Joe Q. have reacted towards people who dislike BND. They take on an arrogant 'niener niener!' attitude and make fun of us. We have a right to be mad we've invested years into Spider-Man and the least Marvel could have done was carefully outline the details of BND and put in much better hints and stuff as to what has happened. Rather than a lame two page spread explaining everything like a bad t.v. show.
If I may mention a lot of the things BND is trying to do have all ready been done. The late 1990's reboot anyone? And we also saw this BND Spider-Man in the 70's except I'm finding the issues from back then entertaining and at least that Spider-Man knew how to fight then.
I also notice a number of posts have disappeared that despite being polite are now gone.
I've only bought a few issues of BND but I was disappointed and now I skim and wait for the original statues to be restored. If you want to break up MJ and Peter, okay. I might not like it but if presented in a well written, draw, and believeable way then I can swallow it. But OMD is not the way to do it.
I'll keep my eye out for better days.

2)explain why no one is freaking out even though they cant remember who spider-man is, cuase if im correct they still did see him unmask
3)ATLEAST for a little while have brock go back to being venom and not anti-venom

The new direction (or should I say classic?) has reenergized my love of the character, here’s hoping the second year is as impressive as the first has been.

Take a look at
Issues 34/475 and 35/476.
This is Peter Parker at his best, badly beaten, but uses every resource available to him to defeat Morlun the first time.
He had traces of Captain America in his spirit and relied upon his superior knowledge of science to win.
That's what I want back.

In my opinion OMD is terrible only because of how it happened, why it happened, and the reaction and additude towards the fans. The overwhelming movie makers and comics seem on this kick of reboot, to modernize something to bring new life, with there own flare to the project. Batman, Terminator, Halloween, Wonka etc. Spider-Man seems to be no exception with Female Hunter out of the wood work. Its sad. Is there no creativity left? Why is it the only good ideas are those from years ago, but weren't quite good enough, so lets reboot them. This is why OMD, you want to tell the same stories with a fresh spin, its time to be creative and come up with characters and storys that will stand the test of time like so many of Stan's characters. You cant do that with a magic wand to remove the bits you dont want, and you hurt a great deal of fans when you did this. I'm sure tons of people love OMD and that's great, but it was done in the worst possible way, and has left so many angry and upset is it worth it. You can't go back, as much as I and many would love it, because it would be a bad business choice for many reasons, and wouldn't undo the damage. But there are ways to adobt the change and tell a hell of a story arc to put things in a position where both sides get what they want. Just an example Spidey goes through some crappy times with devil dealing dude true agenda coming to the surface, end result spidey gets memories back but to protect MaryJane from a life of heartache and what not he allows the world to be fixed continuity wise but Mary Jane never knows, May Alive or dead whatever, and Spidey Morns but the experience leave him more light hearted blah blah....maybe a terrible idea, but hey I'm to paid to write these things just read and enjoy. I hope whatever you conference decides, if things balance get retconed or just get somehow get rid of the awful memory of OMD/BND a loyal fan will put down his money for maybe another 20 years, until then.

I feel that this is probably a waste of time after some of your responses to questions but here goes:
If you have answers for the huge changes brought about by OMD please release them sooner than later. I understand the desire to build up for future stories but that is not the situation you have placed the readers in. Harry being back needed to be addressed quickly as it seemingly contradicts your and JQ's statements that only the marriage and the knowledge of Spidey's identity is all that has changed. To be saying to wait 12 months and/or 36 issues for any kind of resolution is poor. A change this drastic needs something to give stability and you have not provided that.
Throwaway lines that refer to past events in a new way only reinforce that the changes don't make sense and then pull you out of the story. Please, only refer to something if you have a way of explaining its new continuity.
New Villains are needed, but could we have new villains and not rehashes of old ones? New Goblin, new Kraven, etc. do not come off as worthwhile. New supporting characters are fine but we have a new editor of the Daily Bugle and he is little different from JJJ, he spends time defaming Spidey. Why not just leave JJJ alone.
Some consistancy in those new characters - Lily seems to have changed skin colour dramatically as the series has gone on - would be good.
But my main complaint is that this just doesn't seem like my Peter Parker. Yes he often is down on his luck, but he isn't stupid. Most of his problems came from helping people and getting into difficulties. Hanging unmasked on the side of a building to take photos where everyone can see him is just stupid.
I have tried to like BND. I don't care that the marriage was removed but the way it has been done was woeful. With something so badly mishandled you needed to provide some solid ground for people to stand on before continuing. Instead, you have added unsatisfying mysteries that ignore the questions in many peoples minds. And further you ridicule people when they ask questions.
I am still buying the comics because of habit and hope that there will be some improvement - but with each issue I am disappointed. Yes, there has been some good - but not much and nothing great. And then to read an interview that basically sneers at the BND-negative people only makes me angrier. Tom can talk about taking a photo of a line of people at his comic store but I can assure him that he won't like the photo he takes at my LCS.
I don't need OMD/BND to be erased, but I do need it to make sense.

Black Cat is Spidermans One True Love!!!
True Story; so bring her back! Spider-Man deserves an equal. The thing about The Black Cat is she's tough & just because she doesn't take ^$%& seriously doesn't mean she's not capable of serious emotion. And "The Long Goodbye" shows this. If you look at it carefully, all the mushy stuff's in her inner monologue. Outside, she's tough as nails, just like always.

an honest fans opinion
let me just say, the editors and writers are doing a great job. i know you are facing a lot of internet hate for omd/bnd, but in all honesty i am loving it. i have been reading comics since 1990 and spidey has not really changed (except for clone years) but im loving the new direction and the three times a month. now what i would like to see is either revamp of old villains (hammerhead by segal) or new villains. i love menace and really hope its MJ just to screw with the omd/bnd haters. you guys at the spidey office have gotten so mouch hatred before a product was even produced its unbelivable. i feel bad cuz you guys are doing such an awesome job with diff. artists and writing teams. my fav artists are mcniven, bachalo, martin, but i really like them all, i have not been dissappointed with one issue since pre civil war. now my list of stuff(sorry guys)
1. i would ike to see petey at a new job, i know you just got him back to being a photographer but maybe a news journalist or film maker would be kind of cool, some sort of editorial piece where he can defend himself but also distance himself from the costume, yet keep it on at the same time, nothing goes peteys way and thats why we love him, the underdog.
2.my theory is mary jane is half menace/ half jackpot, the part that loves him and wants to share in his heroic ways and the other side that despises him for choosing his old
*&!! aunt over their "marriage" i think it could make a cool dynamic of mj actualy finding out who she is. she was reading "faust" by the way.
3. more new villains such as fastball or whatever the chick in the white suit was drawn by marcos martin, awesome art and story, slott and kelley are some of my fav spidey writers in the past year. also more chris bachalo, he rocks the socks, especially with the spidey/wolvie team ups.
4. i know you have three issues a month, but if you are serious about keeping petey and mj apart, give him a new gf or fling every few months, i mean thats how real relationships work, you date a girl for a while things work or they dont,it can be a villain, or what if its a chick he likes more than MJ, you wanna make people made and add controversy, let him date some sort of super villainous teacher or something sexy just to do something different. i love brand new day, think you writers and artists are ballsy, more power to you, just make stories from your heart, not from the internet fanboy commune. you can be more creative that way, i lovve spidey 3 times a month, i wish it was 4 but until then make mine marvel, or spidey, or menace into mj (half menace/half jackpot). anyways i love the effort that the whole "spidey trust" is putting into the character...ever thin of giving him a sidekick? that may be a little out there but him being a former teacher could make him a good mentor (im not talking spider girl or boy but...well you get a check from marvel and not me so ill save my ideas) but im lovin spidey right now, i wish it was 4 times a month, 3 is awesome, and f-ck the haters, people who cant except change are pusssies. hope you read and listen, if not keep up the good work, ill buy regardless... keep the great art and writing and spidey will be golden for a while, peace...matt

I wish they would stop flagging all these pos
It seems like all the anti-BND posts are disappearing.
Anyway I would like to add that ALL that fans should be listened too. Not just the anti (which I belong to) but also the pro-BND Spider fans.
It'd be nice if both groups could pleased.

ideas
Bring back Ben Reilly, 100% confirmed to be the clone so we don't have that saga again, and use the Scarlet Spider costume for him.
Have a couple team-ups with Ben Reilly and Peter and then spin Ben into his own book so we get a forth Spider-man book every month to go with the 3 Amazings. Build Ben his own rogues gallery and build on the Lost Years relationships he had with characters. I'd like to see Ben working at Harry's coffee shop as a waiter.

HarveyEll is right
The attacks at BND have been refined. BND was at the center of criticism for the decimation of THE MOST recognizable superhero.
The reality is that BND is so terrible because of the cheap story telling device that was used.
Granted the result of BND is offensive, but we really should sharpen the attacks at the way it happened. I am glad to see that happening.
HOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWEEEEEVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR, BND is still pretty weak:
Peter is less intelligent than the Ph.D. Research assistant he was,
he isn't even as smart as the high school science teacher he was,
he gets excited about wheat-cakes like its X-mas and he's 4 years old,
Aunt May is back to being a frail naive woman again,
I could be wrong but now Flash Thompson is a Vietnam/Iraq war vet now?...not a bad thing, rather a recycled subplot,
the "new" characters are as unique as slapping on a fake goutee and calling that character the "evil twin,"
the web shooter problem is ridiculous,
everyone in Peter's life is now a "lois lane" (Would the greatest criminal mind in the Marvel Universe really over look the most obvious possibility that Peter is you know who, instead of just being used as a front to sell pictures), hey we all have to suspend realty a lot for us to give credibility to a storyline in comic books, but I think most fans can agree that the closer we get to reality the better the book gets,
Your mom still goes to college,
He seems drastically less strong than he used to be,
His dialogue would be hilarious in 1968...is it still 1968?
Donde esta el Kingpin?...wait, connected to the election subplot? consider withdrawn,
Rupert Baxter is not as fun as JJJJJ.
That's all I got for now...
Wait, Jackpot sucks.
Okay now I'm done.
Make mine Marvel
Publish both in '09

Old School Spiderman
At the moment I'm Not a huge fan of Spiderman OMD or BND i have always known Spiderman to his one true MJ even if House of M showed him with Gwen
I have some ideas i have for Spiderman are as follows
1.) Bring back the Marriage between Peter & and his True Love Mary Jane Watson and let Aunt May die she is would never allow Peter or Mary Jane Watson to make a deal to save her life
2.) No Jackpot if you want Jackpot in then have one of Spiderman Villians capture Mary Jane Watson if she is Jackpot Ie Norman Osborn have him break way from the Thunderbolts
3) have Spiderman show to the world have dangerous it is for a hero to unmasked and show their identies and mabye get rid of the Superhero registration act on the ground theirs no safety to a heros family member
4) New Villains have Mr Negetive and the New Villains in Spiderman Brand New Day in old school stroies (Pre-OMD)
5) Venom Symbiote rebonding with Eddie Brock because it feed up with Mac Gargan and working thunderbolts because it get to gove after Spiderman

Bring Back
1. Black Tarantula. I know he`s at DD right now but BT was the coolest Villian of the mid - late 90`s. Remember That Peter has never beaten him.
2. Ben Reilly and Kaine.
3. Black Tarantula v.s Morlun.
4. Dock Ock. Only if it`s a huge event.

It’s been like 3 days since my post was flagged and I had no offensive material and even said how much I was enjoying NWtD why would someone flag that?

again
Despite not being offensive in any way, my post was flagged. Oh well, repost time then.
"Suddenly Doc
